How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

It's so hot that I think I will stop collecting eggs and just come back in 3 weeks and start collecting chicks.

3 eggs today out of 6 hens. My 2 lavender Orpingtons still haven’t started laying yet since I got them a few weeks ago.

A couple weeks ago I downloaded the Flockstar app that I saw people talking about on here and I cannot reccomend it enough, it’s great, you can track egg laying and you can store all information about each chicken on there. View attachment 3457400View attachment 3457401
I downloaded it today. Also ordered some bands so i can tell my birds apart. Hope my camera can tell the different colors.

That’s the only issue I have is that I can’t really tell which egg is laid by which chicken as I don’t have a camera, might have to get one.
It would be good to be able to record which chicken is laying them as they seem to have a leaderboard feature too which is pretty cool

Luckily I can tell who lays what by shape &/or color. 😂 I think Flockstar will be helpful when tracking who takes a break for molting/winter/broodiness etc, especially when planning for orders in the future!

Right thats why i ordered some bands to hopefully take away some of the confusion on who the best layers are. My camera only really lets me see inside one nest box.

Just remember to check the bands.
As the birds grow they can grow right into the leg
I had this happen. 😥 The hen ended up with a ruptured tendon sheath. She is fine now but it was scary. I did all the work to fix it my self. Had it bandaged for a week or so.

Normally I know within an egg the total of all the coops. As Schultz said, "Today I know Nuting." They were put into cartons out of the basket and off they went. Around 12+ went out the door with a customer that was in a hurry. I hope he doesn't boil them for a hunt as none are old enough to boil and peel. An honest and fair estimate is about 75 total.
