How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Yeh 7 from 9 all but two of the new ones are laying now. Don't you love the different shapes and shades of colors when they start. I have long ones, round ones and ones with pointy ends. All sizes at this point in time. Gloria jean

18 eggs today.

Found out why my egg count has been so low with me having so many hens. The cats have been sleeping in the nesting boxes and not letting the chickens lay eggs. I caught them in the act. Each cat had his/her own lounging quarters. I took a fly swatter to all of them and dared them to step paw in it again.

I'll try to give as accurate of an account of ages of chickens and breeds as possible.

Here goes..................

Hens:
5 Black Australops - 1 1/2 yrs old
3 Rhode Island Reds - 2 yrs old
2 Partridge Rocks- 8 months old
1 OEG - 1 yr old (setting on 7 eggs as I type)
1 Speckled Sussex - 1 yr old
2 - EEers - 1 yr old (they have recently hatched 4 ee pullets)
6 Cornish X - 8 months old (they lay large double yokers)
6 Barred Rocks - 8 months old
10 New Hamshire Reds - 8 months old
20 Buff Orpingtons - 5 months old
3 Gold Laced Cochins - 1 yr old
3 Black Cochins - 1 yr old
4 Buff Brahmas - Age unknown (was given to me me by a very nice couple)

And this list below better not lay any eggs or else.

Roosters:
1 Jersey Giant
1 Leghorn
1 Buff Brama
1 Brama banty
2 Buff Orpingtons
1 Splash Cochin
1 Buff Orpington Banty
1 Partidge Cochin

(also have 24 new chicks and waiting on 7 eggs to hatch)

Every day is an easter egg hunt when I walk around and find eggs in unusual places. I usually toss those because I dont know how long they have been there. I dont count those.

The black australops, RIR and Cornish X's are molting, so they have not layed much.

are they laying... ours will be 5 months this Wed.

Yes, I have seen a few of them in the nesting boxes and 30 minutes later, they have layed. The eggs are small but that's because it's their first time. I'm so proud of my girls. They are soooooo friendly. I'm looking forward to more of the girls joining in and laying more.

Yours should be laying VERY soon (maybe this week). I know you're excited. Keep me posted when you get your first egg. Take a pic if you can and post it. I would love to see.
