How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and only a couple of months old as a chicken owner. We now have around 50 chickens and for the last couple weeks only our Wyandotte hen has given us any eggs. I have around 20 or 30 that could lay but aren't. We are wondering what the deal is. We switched to layer feed and give them plenty of oystershell, cracked corn, our kitchen scraps etc yet we have to buy store bought eggs

When we got the first few....then I went to the fair and bought 15 more and added another 30 or so last week. So the answer is kinda yes and kinda no. What would that have to do with laying? The ones we got from the fair were laying 6 eggs for the first week or so and then nothing except for the Wyandotte.

a change in there diet can couse loss of egg production. i give mine chicken scratch and there layerr pellets this time of year to put weight on for winter and it useally disrupts there egg laying for a bit

Again, we got eleven cackle berries from our twelve Gold Comets. Way to go, Girls!!!

We actually now have nineteen hens because we added seven new ones last weekend. They are also GC's but they're only 16 weeks old. I've not been around chickens since I was a youngster but these GC's are prolific layers. And I've also noticed they're very people friendly. In the early evening after the sun goes over the trees I'll let 'em out of their run and they eat everything in site. I call 'em Pigs With Feathers. I'll put out lettuce and an ear of corn and they attack it like they've not been fed in days. Then they chase crickets like crazy. My Granddaughters tell their friends that PawPaw is outside watching Chicken TV. I guess it's a good way to unwind after being in the office all day.
