How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got all 6 eggs today. Whoo hoo. I found another one just a few minutes ago so 7

Last night when I went down to lock the coop, I found a rat snake inside the coop. The girls didn’t seem disturbed, but he wasn’t too motivated to leave and I’m moving slow with pneumonia and a pulled muscle in my back from coughing. I left the snake but grabbed the girls and put them in a dog crate on the porch for safe keeping til morning. Snake-poo was gone this morning but I’m gonna have to make an effort to relocate him since this is twice he’s made his way into the coop. No eggs when I checked at midday.

Two today…one on the nest box early this morning. I went down a bit ago and the rat snake was back. My nephew (who claimed to not be afraid to pick up snakes) got a look and said “he’s too big! I don’t want to pick him up.” So I got him with a forked stick and picked him up and into a bucket to be taken off to a nearby pond and released. Found another egg in the grass where the chickens dust bathe.
