How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

6 hens; (2) 4 yr olds and (4) 3 year olds. Other years 3 - 5 eggs a day during winter, this year last 3 wks of Nov, 2 - 3 eggs every 2 days. Last 4 days : 0 eggs, should I be concerned. 20% protein feed, let them out of run only a few hours a few days a week. Should I be concerned?
From my personal experience with my heritage girls is that they do not lay egg in winter, those that do only do a few eggs a week during the cold season. Our winter here is not that cold and we do not have snow. Other might give you more information on your question.

Thanks. Been doing much reading and have come to the conclusion that there just isn't enough light. Just found it concerning since my 1st 3 yrs weren't this abrupt. So hopefully they'll start laying again in the next 2 - 5 wks. Hate the thought of buying eggs again

Our winter here is blue sky and bright sunshine, but shorter day. I read it too that they need enough hours of sunshine to poop breakfast.

I got my first egg today! The pullets were born the third week in June. I believe it came from a Welsummer, Lulu. The shell is the pale pink and she's the most interested in what I'm doing with the egg.

None today! :)

Juin has now reached her 1 year anniversary from when she started laying, and her total number of eggs laid in that time is… 303! Amazing!

I didn’t realize non-hybrid breeds could be so productive, and while I’m extremely impressed, I still worry a little at such a high figure. I care more about her health and longevity than anything. Maybe she’ll take the winter off once the solstice arrives. Still, what a champ!

I got 9 last night and 7 today. Four brown, 3 blue. The supplemental light (two extra hours in the evening) seems to be helping! :celebrate
Try it in the morning instead, the morning light is said to work better than in the evening. I do chores at 4:30am so the chooks also get up then (my hen house is in the barn).

But I have an LED 48” shop light that I put on a timer, I keep it on all day, and it goes off at 2:45pm, dusk here is around 4pm.

It’s not a lot of supplemental light for my kiddos but it keeps this year’s pullets laying. The older ladies are moulting pretty just taking a break.

It also helps with them eating - they are eating like horses these days with this cold weather.

It was -12C this morning, got to a high of -4C.

Currently at 19:45 hrs

-9C (16F) and cloudy periods; the moon is at 97% full, it will be full on the 15th.

Low tonight predicted to be -14C. Brrr!
Bit then temps bop back up this week with rain. Mother Nature has gone off the rails…

Thankfully my young hens are laying still!

9 eggs today. Thanks kiddos!

She is beautiful and a super girl.
I think she will take a break from laying once she is molting or might be short day winter.

I have 1 like your, she is 2+ year of age. She one in awhile pooped out a tiny tiny farted egg, and we celebrate big time as that is all we got from her.
