^^^ Perris has a beautiful article on this and I have been wanting to try this for awhile but for right now, all-flock Purina really is wonderful, my girls are hale and healthy and producing gorgeous eggs.

I specifically use this flaked oyster shell on the side and I have *zero* issues with shells.

I do let my girls free range every single day, from about 2 hours after sunrise until sunset, so all day long really. They forage like champs. There isn't a lot of bugs around during winter though so they eat like maniacs LOL

Also, way more eggs yesterday than I thought, 12 total!

Good Morning
5 eggs yesterday and I can now sing 5 egg songs.
I registered all my eggs and last week I got total 29 eggs. Baked a few chocolate brownie cakes, chocolate sponge cake, home made mayonnaise for potatoes salad. Shared a couple with the molting hens & 2 pullets.
If there is a food shortage,I have eggs and beans, lots of beans. I love Christmas Lima beans. This bean is not sell in the supermarket here, very strange.

2 .. love the new feed. Will share eggs with my dogs after we leave the nest areas.. Use to just drop the eggs from waist high for the slower dogs that wont break them open whole. When I drop an egg on hard ground from waist high, normally it cracks. Now after some time in the new feed, if I drop an egg it bounces unharmed .. I think that is a good sign?

An even dozen today, unless Ms Marty has laid an egg this evening, (I left her sitting in a nestbox on Topsy’s blue egg), I’ll know soon just about to head out to do evening chores.

Storm not too bad, thanks. Yes it's an ice storm but temps are right at freezing. Ice is forming on branches but there's standing water on the ground. Weirdness. Will be colder tomorrow and the next day. Teens tomorrow, 20's Wed. Brr! This is wild grape vine along fence.

Do you have fake eggs in the nests, good hard ones? How often do you gather eggs? I started to get egg-eaters, but these strategies quickly put a stop to them. I use golf balls. Good luck!
