Yes, keeping warm in the cold can be extremely fatiguing, my older ladies have all stopped laying. Just my this year pullets are laying. But they will likely slow up or even stop, now that the real cold has arrived.Maybe the cold weather and the short days are slowing them down. They need rest too.
Poor dears! I know how you feel though, wanting to keep them warm and comfortable. My husband and I take turns going out to stay with them during the day, and it’s a lovely time.
