How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

That one egg at 12:00 in the picture looks light purple, almost lavender. Who lays that?
I'm guessing you're asking me since I had a pic up the most recent?

That is CUSTARDS egg!! It's *awesome*!!! It's actually this really desaturated olive green that comes out looking grey, so likely it's picked up the ambient light to look lavender. I LOVE her eggs. She's also this peppy adorable Easter Egger that is curious and sweet and friendly :D

Also we had a new layer today; one of our 2 Wyandottes Dorothy or Pepper! \o/

I mostly know whose egg is what - today was the first day I got 100% confirmation on my 2 laying Jersey Giants Jane and Ginger who I cleared out what was there under them this morning and was able to go out after they laid theirs.

Choc/Toffee/Coffee are my Starlight Olive Eggers, only one of which lays an Olive Egg (chocolate) but I don't think they have missed a day since September :O

Harriet/Penelope are Cream Legbars

Sophia is one of my Copper Marans

The ??Sapphire Gem is Lola or Dora

I LOVE THE NEW EGG COLOR :D :D :D :D

Got 4 yesterday. The 2 bantam hens are doing most of the work.
I think my 16 weeks old pullet is acting strangely, she might be experiencing the changes in her body....I notice they all acted very frighten, spooky, running at round a bit before they actually poop their first egg. That first egg is painfully confusing, and physically painful.
She does not have anyone in the flock to support her with her first egg. I will try to be there for her. I used to have a few nice hens that stand by the pullets with their first eggs, but those nice one passed away.
My rooster took over that job, dug a nest for a pullet to lay in, and it went on for hours. He also gone now.
I miss having those nice chickens to support their flock. Now I just have peckers...grrrrrrrrr

Poor dears! I know how you feel though, wanting to keep them warm and comfortable. My husband and I take turns going out to stay with them during the day, and it’s a lovely time. Having multiple chickens warming your lap, looking out the window as the snow gently falls… perfect winter’s day :)
I am really lucky that I have a heated feed room that I can use for anyone who is in need of it. Past two nights I am keeping the old girl Red on there, she is going through a terrible moult!

She’s very elderly so I want to make sure she is not stressed too much.
