3 today. I got my first ever blue egg!! I've always wanted a hen that lays blue eggs and I thought I didn't have one but one of my pullets started laying later than usual and surprised me wit ha pretty blue egg! it's so small too!

Some people save the small "fairy" eggs. I think that they're adorable.

I believe I did get my Gems from Hoover's but they do not have crests. I ordered my Ameraucanas from Cackle, I understand they are the only hatchery that has actual Ameraucanas, not EEs. That's why I got a rooster to go with them. He's going to replace my Rojo, so he'd better be a good boy! I trust my OG gals to bring him up right! But I love my Eggers!

Yes that’s why I was not thinking they were gems, the topknots. The only other ones I could think of from Hoovers were their green Eggers. But the odds of both laying brown eggs is odd.

At any rate they are darling wee ladies, enjoy a snuggle, quite tame. I have been very happy with the chicks I got from Hoovers over the past few yrs. Well other than Shirley being a Sir Surely!!!

Don't do that, you'll destroy it! Just set it in a safe, dry place, whatever is inside it will dry out. I have about 8 of them, they dry out just fine and don't stink or anything.

Meyer also has Ameraucanas. I had a splash chick, but she was a failure to thrive, sadly. I plan to get a blue and a splash from them someday, when my husband gives in and lets me add to the flock again

10 laid today. Collected 6.
I only collected 5 duck, one of them decided to break an egg, eat it, and take the shell out into the run... because this morning there were 6 all with strong shells.
I only got 1 chicken egg though, early afternoon I checked for eggs and there were 3, but I didn't collect them since I wait for everyone to lay. Well when I next checked those 3 eggs were gone and a different hen had laid an egg. No one collected eggs, and I know I saw them, so I'm thinking a snake got to them.
