How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Welp…it’s been a while since I’ve been here. Lots happened over the summer. I lost two of my girls, Jade and Bossy, and acquired a new Buff Orpington (I think).
Goldie has started laying again, after a short break when the new hen arrived. But I didn’t have any eggs from Flossy or the new hen, Buffy, until a couple days ago. I thought the new hen was laying, since Flossy appeared to still be on strike, but now I’m not so sure.
A couple days ago, I got a nice brown egg, the same size as my Banty eggs. Cool…maybe the new hen is laying! Then yesterday a normal sized egg, but it felt maybe a little thin shelled, not brittle, just maybe thin. Today I got a very pointy egg, along with a tiny Banty egg. BUT, tonight Flossy’s comb is much darker than Buffy’s. So now I wonder if it’s not Flossy finally laying again! Or maybe the pointy egg is Buffy? I don’t know, but I’m glad to have eggs coming again!

This year’s pullet are starting to lay while the adult hens are starting to slack off, probably about to molt. The bottom 6 are from pullets, the lightest cream one under the nearly white one being from Chunky a Cornish cross pullet I’ve decided to keep back for a meaty project (already in progress with 2 eggs about to hatch!)

I only got 7 today. I'm not sure what's going on with my RIR's. They have also started laying heavily speckled eggs.

I think I got 5 but I have to wait until tomorrow to know for sure. I'm not at home because I had to sit with my oldest granddaughter and my middle grandson for the night.

4 eggs yesterday, from Août and the young hens

Going to start using disposable gloves to collect for sure. But, five pretty eggs today! The two 'whiter' ones on the diagonal underneath the top egg are light blue tinted in person. I love it!
Yesterday, we had a soft shell egg and it scared me to bits. One of the pullets was acting a little off too. I gave her some extra calcium, made sure she hydrated, and she's doing great today! We've got 7 pullets in the oldest crew. The others are catching up in age FAST so we're double-timing it on building nesting boxes in the big coop for everyone. I think we've got about 20-30 pullets. I... should really count my chickens, since they've hatched.
These will be starring in our stir fried rice with stir fried rib eye tonight. So excited!
