How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

2.... both laid on a tarp near the rubbish bin. :he

Last week was a planter. My adult chickens are broken.

Hopefully my young ones will lay soon- like real girls, in the coop. I checked the nest boxes for insects- refreshed the bedding, added the same fresh herbs- nothing has changed but the girls habits. Beats me as these two adult hens sleep in a tree... used to at least lay in the coop.

Hmmm - when this happens here, I give them a nestbox where they want to lay - is this possible in your location? I know you said you have peaky crabs and creatures, maybe that is why they won’t lay in there anymore…?

Today we hit the mother lode, 19 eggs. I really cannot remember last time for that - back in the summer likely.

Of course that includes a couple wee silkie eggs, and this strange one.

I noted this egg seemed to have some sort of membrane like material on it, grabbed it when first laid. I left it and it dried a bit.

When I picked at the material it came away leaving the inner membrane intact. Looks like the shell didn’t form there or something….?

Is it ok to fry up and eat?

Might be fertile?

Well likely is since Mr P has been covering her past few weeks, this is her 4th or 5th egg. So she’s just getting started - I caught her laying it this morning. The inner membrane is totally intact.
