How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

0/8 today, but thats ok I got my first two eggs yesterday. so that is a start right???

One - can you believe it? I have 40 female chickens! 9 are 4-7 years old and some of these are molting. The rest are approaching 5 months. I haven't seen a snake in a nest box for weeks. Do you think some of the old hens are laying in a secret spot? Or just old and molting?

Nope. 9 are 4-7 years old (1 is 7 years old, the other 8 are either 4 or 5 years old - can't remember exactly). So, these hens should be laying more than 1 egg a day for the 9 of them!! At least, I think there should be more. But their laying has been tapering off and was virtually non-existent last winter, which was the reason I got a whole bunch of new pullets this year! Soon the new ones should be laying, and I will have eggs galore!

Mine have gotten up to 9 eggs from 10 hens(thats not counting the one hen that gets out and I just found her "nest " where she has been laying...not sure how long but she had 30 eggs there.

I got 4 eggs from 10 chickens. Six haven't laid their first egg yet, needless to say, we had a serious chat this evening!

Still only 4 confirmed layers.
