At this time last year, it would have been more like twenty! My girls are all broody or molting. What a mess.

Our first taste of cool weather last week has thrown most my birds into molting. It looks like some of them exploded out there from the feathers blowing around. Naturally egg production has plummeted so I'm getting about one third of what I would be getting otherwise or about twenty eggs a day. With the new birds I just added that aren't yet laying come spring I'll be gathering between seventy to eighty a day. Will finally have to use the big egg basket.

I haven't collected eggs yet today but...yesterdays total for 30 adult molting hens was 1 egg!! DH was so happy so see my girls are earning their keep!

Yesterday I got 14 from 13 hens today 12 from 12 doing good!
