17/19 today..the temperature was down to 21 this morning,,,the other two promised to do better,I am going to give them an extra helping of scratch this evening,,
18 out of 19 but one was a total soft shell. Weird! They're still laying strong. My fall lettuce is gone from the garden finally so I've turned to my collards. Lots of collards. I didn't think they'd go for them but was I wrong. I just chop up the unused leaves that I remove into 3/8" strips or so and put it out for them. They go nuts for them. Oh, and someone wrote the other day about runny poop and recommended yogart. Well, that was a dangerous thing to tell someone without also warning them of what was to come. The first day when I gave it to them they were a little standoffish, but when I came back a couple of days later with another pie pan of it they went ballistic. There was yogart flying everywhere. And when they were done they set about pecking it off each others faces. If there had been a coyote or a fox in the bottom of the pie pan he'd been dead meat on the street as they say. He wouldn't have had a chance to defend himself against nineteen Gold Comets in a feeding frenzy.
