8 out of 13 that should be laying regularly. I have a total of 28 in coop. 15 are between 23 and 30 wks and just starting to lay. ( have 8 EE at 23 and 24 wks and got first green egg today)
I checked at 8:30 am this morning, because I haven't checked since Sat afternoon, and had nothing, but went back to put more hay in boxes and there were 2 eggs, I have 5 hens. And I was told during winter that chickens don't lay many eggs... I would say that 40% of 4-1/2 mo old chickens isn't bad.
all my brown egg laying 26 week old babies are laying now
5/7 pullet eggs!! The 2 EE are holding out on me tho....
and Esther gave me a green egg...so 6 in all...5 brown and 1 green. Not bad, not bad... 6/9
I know Mercedes wont give me an egg often now...so I dont expect from her now. She is done with laying for the most part I think. I guess that makes it 6/8 in all reality
I think I need to chat with those two 26 week old EE....freeloaders! So lucky I love them tho....but i want more coloured eggs!! <praying for pink or blue...but would be happy with green>
Yesterday, we got 14 eggs out of 13 hens...what? we check the coop a few times a day, so they are constantly being removed. they were all hatched this spring, and it has been pretty cold here lately. this is our first time with chickens and everyone says they slow down in cold weather. I hope so, we can't keep up eating the eggs at that pace, and my family is locking the doors when they see us coming with eggs in hand!
