20 from our 30 GCs today. Only two small bantam-sized from the Youngsters. The heat has been horrible here in central NC and I'm sure that's having a big effect on them. We've been trying to keep them misted down and keep the run as cool as we can during the day but it's been just doggone miserable here for the past two weeks. We're supposed to get a break this week with temps falling back in the mid-80's. I hope so!!!
Whoops! Wrong about that. I went back down at almost dark to lock the Gals up and there were 2 more large brown ones in the layer box, so 22 for the day!!! I was just down there about 6:00 to check earlier. I think a couple of the Youngsters only get to be in the nesting box at the end of the day without the older Gals pecking at them.
