Luckily, a family with 8 children lives down the road from us. I started delivering 5 dozen at a time. I am going to start dropping 10 dozen a week at the food pantry in town when the little girls start laying.
I couldn't figure out why only two of my older chickens were laying well yesterday I found 15 eggs in an outside nest that she made in the tall grass, why would she do that when the other two are laying in the nesting boxes? It just makes me mad that I didn't figure it out that she was laying someplace else and all those eggs will now go to our chocolate lab.
I have been waiting MONTHS to join this thread! Today is 1st Egg Day at Taj MaCoop! Our leghorn laid 2 eggs--one on top of the nesting boxes with a soft, paper-like shell that obviously broke when she laid it, and another one in the floor of the run with no shell at all! TECHNICALLY I got 2 eggs... none edible! But I'm counting them, darnit! LOL!
