How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3/4, I'm almost certain my Barred Rock is laying but I don't know where

. I have a feeling I'm going to do some deck repairs one day and find a HUGE clutch of eggs under there. Maybe I should buy a small radio controlled car and attach the video camera to it..... like a backyard mars rover to look for eggs....

I am excited, I got my FIRST green egg today. I have 4 RIR that I generally get 3 eggs a day from. My pullet was bothering and bullying a RIR that was in the laying box, and I could see her bottom was sort of twitching. Then she would jump down and head to the corner of the coop, acting real restless. A few hours later when I went out to give the chicks some treats I checked the laying box and found a very small green egg

I could see that she had tried out all the boxes while trying to lay that egg. Big Day!

26 from our 30 Gold Comets yesterday!!! We're finally working our way out of the molt and just about all the Gals have put feathers back on. The one little hen, Miss Pity as we called her was in really bad shape all summer long and had lost a lot of feathers. I thought maybe she had mites so we treated them all just to be safe. Anyways, Miss Pity is now Miss Purdy and she's back in full bloom.

Just a question about Gold Comets or other brown egg layers from others who have them: We get one or maybe two light colored eggs each day and generally they are very fragile and break easily. Does anyone know what this is about? We give them layer feed that has extra calcium (crushed oyster shells) in it.
