3/11 again. But today was the first day I didn't supplement with corn or anything else. Just layer pellets. Hoping the numbers will increase in a few days.
it has been a strange egg week here... i did switch to an organic layer pellet at the beginning of last week so i think this might have something to do with it?
so here goes: we have 8 hens total that lay...
monday - total eggs 7 - 1 was huge DBL. yolk (80.3g) - 1 soft shell
= 6 for the day (a first for both!)
tues. - total 8 - 1 soft shell again = 7 day should mention i went out and got oyster shell to help supplement bc we got 2 soft shell eggs - im guessing the organic layer has a bit less calcium than the feed i was using before so they NEED the oyster shell now - before i was giving them alot more egg shells back too - but we have sold/given away a few dozen eggs -
wed - total 4 - 1 huge DBL? yolk (80.3g) - 1 soft shell again
= 3 day
today - total 7 all good no soft shells
but the BRs eggs today and the few from this week have been very light in color - not brown like last week, they are all fairly new layers so maybe just the feed switch and maybe they are still getting the hang of things? i try not to worry about them, but its hard!
