A hen can and usually does hold the "fertilization" for weeks after mating. Sometimes after a roo is removed, a month later you can still get a fertilized egg. But for breeding purposes you want the roo active with the girls on a daily basis

2 from 5 is pretty standard lately.

i got 0!!!! from 11 red production hens, 4 from 5 mix japs, and 6 from 16 buff orpingtons.

today wasnt a good egg day!!!

We found one little egg from one of our new bantam hens this morning. Our EE hens are approaching POL. This is so exciting!

We started out with 2/3 today, but DS dropped one on his way back up the stairs, and then when he leaned over to see where it had fallen, the other dropped out of his basket as well, so we ended up with none.
