11 eggs from my 13 girls.....pretty average!!!!! The girls are really putting them out!

Another 10 eggs day! Seems they do this and then have a few 7 egg days...it's all good!
Rhoise- thanks for the info on the pumpkins...I cut up a butternut squash for them tonite but couldn't stay around to see how they liked it. I'll find out tomorrow if it is still there or not.

6/7 again today love my girls! went to a "tips on how to winter your chickens" community ed class tonight, got a cool idea for a popcorn tin waterer base to keep things from freezing this winter. Very similar to ideas I've seen on this web site, but very simple and DIY easy to make(needs to be really simple for me to build it hee hee) I've been looking at some in the feed store and zoinks pretty spendy! this was simple and inexpensive, down side is I only have a plastic waterer but will need to get a metal one for this to work. Also, had an interesting discussion on 2x2 roosts vrs 2x4 roosts for winter and tow curling/foot warming issues in cold cold weather.

Ok so now that one of my girls have started laying, how frequently will they lay now? Will they imidately get around 5 eggs a week or will they build their way up?

11 eggs from 29 hens but it is the moulting season. and the short days are taking their toll.

Monday was 11 out of 24 and yesterday was 10 out of 24. UGH! They need to pick it up...

Woohoo! Tuesday I got 17 of 17! 1st time!!!! So far today 14 with one still on the nest.

Only six out of over 30 pullets, but they are just starting. I told them I have noodles inside and the flu and cold season is coming on, but they know I'm bluffing. LOL.
