Hmmm maybe if that doesn’t work you can just skip toStill have freeloading East Indie, and one egg from the Welsh Harlequin. I am trying to bribe the East Indie to lay eggs with veggies today. Doubt it will work but hey it’s worth a try.
Still at zero here, but enjoying this threadI’m sure that there will be eggs within weeks. The increase in daylight is now noticeable, and the sun is providing increasing warmth. The girls are showing interest in venturing outside of the barn, even on colder days. The winter days of “hunker down and just survive” are over. I’m sure there will be a big snow storm or two yet, but the worst is over, and the girls know it! That reminds me, I need to put out new oyster shell.....
Edited to add - I will miss the lovely even temperaments that the Muscovy girls currently have as non-laying, non-molting hens!
My calls have been patrolling the yard looking extensively for a good spot to lay, just caught one covered that was covered with leaves laying an egg, she wasn't too happy I found her spot. Four eggs today.
