Me too. Barred owls which is cool. Coyote which is not.

Usually they go automatically into their covered pen once darkness falls. It was raining though so I guess they wanted to play longer.

We got three eggs today! So I must have missed one of the black east indies yesterday being as she has made this super deep nest (about two to three inches) that I have to crawl into to the temp house to see if she has laid anything to see.

I also have a bunch of pips on my eggs in the incubator but I am debating on how long to wait to safety hole the call duck eggs. I know some of the eggs are nearing the 24 hour mark for internal pips. They make me nervous.

It’s hatch day and equally maddening! I was hoping that these babies would start hatching yesterday or Saturday but nope they want to make me wait.

So sorry to hear that.

I just put a safety hole in 4 that i knew had internal pipped sometime yesterday. I put a second hole in the two that had managed to external pip on their own just in case it was on the zip line so they still had air. The others that I had checked hadn't showed any signs yet that they had internal pipped so I left those ones alone for now.

Not yet but I have two that I have started making multiple breaks in the shell. They are of course doing what ducklings do best and taking their sweet time and making me want to bash my head into the wall while i wait.

There will be much celebration when there is finally an escapee from the calcium prison. Along with many pictures to go along with it!
