2 dozen today for $3.00/dz and except for what we get today I'm tapped out. Took the last egg this morning to make the second dozen. Teresa was begging for one egg to make herself an egg sandwich but I had to remind her we owed it to our Gals and our Customers. With that I almost got a skillet up side the head...
I dare NOT put up a sign (although I think it would be "cute" to have a sign) because I can barely keep up with egg sales now and I have over 100 hens, (20) 2 month old pullets and will be purchasing 50 more pullets. I can't keep up with the demand.
I barely have eggs for breakfast because I'm always sold out.
Most of my customers are set up that way. It's been like that for about 10 years now. My customers/co-workers have "Credit Accounts" with me. They give me $10.00 or $20.00 to put in their "Eggs Savings Account" and as I give them their eggs, I deduct the amount owed. I give them a receipt showing what their order amount for the day was and their balance after their egg purchase. They get a kick out of it. The receipt is on these little chicken post it notes. They think the receipts are so cute. But anyway....... They are too afraid of not having any money or no change when the egg orders are ready, they pay me in advance. They will email me or stop by my office when I'm at work and ask me what their balance is. When their balances get too low, they will hand over another $10.00 or $20.00. All of them have their own ledger card, so that I can keep up with the money that they pay me in advance or in the event they want to look at it (no one has ever asked to look at their "Egg Credit Bank Statement" but it is available for viewing upon request.
If you have the space to get more chickens, I would say DO IT!!! You will enjoy your massive flock!
