I sell my to family, friends, co-workers and I have regular customers. I started out by people just getting the word out to others and the word spread. Some of us post on craigstlist, at our churches, feed stores, etc.
I just sold 5 dozen in the last 3 days. I think that the word is finally getting out, I just had 2 repeat customers!! A lot of people and my friends included are just so used to not paying very much for their store bought eggs or getting them on sale that I think that they think that I am making money on these eggs. These chickens eat a lot, and that doesn't even include getting them to the egg laying stage!
Thanks for all of the help with advertising. I just put it on my facebook page and am hoping that that adds a couple of friend customers.
Sold a dozen for $2 and got an order for 1 dozen. One lady just wants my green eggs, and that is kind of hard when you only have 2 EE's. The girls aren't liking this weather, and I can't sell the eggs that are split!
I have people wanting multiple doz. eggs, but It is hard when you only have 20 hens, but that gives me an excuse to order 30 more! LOL
4 dozen today for $3.00/dz. Teresa has gone back to work after being laid off for nearly 2 years and she's selling eggs to her co-workers now. She's going to get me strung up by the cubicle rats downstairs when their food supply gets messed with. But maybe that's her plan all along...
I'm all sold out and have been for the last week @ 3.50- per dozen, unless they bring their own cartons. Then I let them have a dozen for $3.00. We average 27 eggs a day. MOre and more people are finding out about them from freinds, so we have alot more customers now. Going to have to order more pullets.
Baggy Bottoms- What breed of fertile eggs are you selling on Ebay? Sounds like your doing great. I have recently added a roo to about 10 hens, for fertile eggs. I want to try and hatch some on an incubator I'm building.
I keep a bunch of merriam and rio grande wild turkeys (they alone average $10 an egg)
then I have all bantams in phoenix (10 colors) d'anver (close to 30 colors) crevecouer, sumatra, houdans, and a few polish
Also 10 colors of peafowl which do really well too.
