How many Eggs did you Sell today?

Ronnie, I sell my eggs for $2.50 a dozen no matter what size they are. I have a label that gives farm name, address, phone number and the word unsized on them. I oftentimes will have cartons of bantam eggs and sell them right along side standard chicken eggs. People are free to inspect the eggs prior to buying them, and many of them do. For some reason, older people, especially older ladies, go for the smaller sized eggs. I do have an elderly lady living here and she always insist on having a small egg, when she has eggs, as she claims the big eggs are too much food for her. We actually sell our eggs at a lower price than what most people in the area sell their eggs for, but we are also the only farm that continues to sell year round so when a farm loses their customer because of no eggs, we tend to pick up that customer and keep them. Once you start selling, make sure you continue to sell. You have to be consistent with your eggs. You can't have them one day and then not have them for two days. Your customers are going to want to know that if they take the time to travel to your farm that you're going to have the eggs for them.

I put a sign in the front of my house, Fresh Eggs, I had to take the sign down because I do not have enough eggs to go around. Will be putting sign back up as soon as my second flock starts laying eggs. Good Luck!

My sign is down too. I have too many people that will only eat brown eggs. I hate so say it, but my breed choices for this spring are being swayed by people's lack of awareness (despite my trying to tell them that there is no difference). I'm choosing mostly brown egg layers this time around.

Can you believe I read ALL 260 pages before posting? Lol. This thread had me hooked. Too bad it slowed down. Took me a week but I did it!! Anyways, all the egg sale talk has me excited. I had 30 hens at once but sold them all. Big mistake I've missed my birds every single day since then. I ordered 11 silkies, 6 easter egger pullets and 1 easter egger rooster from Ideal Hatchery that are supposed to be here on May 11th. BUT I am also going to buy 20 more red sex links for egg laying from another hatchery. Would love to be able to sell my eggs and pay for feed. Also am going to stop at Trader Joes and pick up some fertile Leghorn eggs to incubate. Would love to add a few leghorns too ;) I mean go big or go home right?

I live on an extremely busy road so I plan to put a sign out front. A big plus is immigration is on the same block my house is on so I'm hoping the people driving by from other countries will stop by if they're used to fresh eggs from home.
