How many Eggs did you Sell today?

I sympathize Catdaddy. I have a sign in my yard and have a hard time getting any sales. I sell for $1.75, bring the carton back and $1.50. Had a one time flush of sales. Thinking of putting $1.50 price on the sign. Might be able to sell more at $1.25 as I sold some to Salvation Army employees at that price. They told me what they were willing to pay. Just moved to TN last January from IL where I was paying $3.50 a dozen. So I donated 9 dozen to a local food bank and 5 dozen to the homeless shelter. I wish the girls could pay for their own needs but it seems the nutritional value is not ranked high here, either you like farm eggs or you don't. I wish you good luck.

Yes, they do take up a lot of space. I am thinking I may have to get a small refrigerator just for eggs, and I am not sure where I will put it.

My old gals are still not laying. The young ones have just started.

So I have been paying lots of money for chicken feed and getting just a few eggs which is very tiresome. Is there any way to avoid having no one laying for a couple of months?

I will still only have two dozen eggs to sell tomorrow.

Yeah I know it's crazy, I thought that once it got cold and most everybody elses chickens quit laying for the winter that it might pick up, but so far I guess everybody's still getting plenty of eggs. Even my so called regular customers haven't been very consistent in purchasing eggs.

I just moved back here to the town where I'm originally from, but for the two years prior to July of this year I was selling all I could get for $2.00 a doz. espscialy during the winter time, even the man at the local hardware where I got my feed would buy eggs over the winter cause his hens didn't lay for him. It just burnt him up to have to buy eggs from me over the winter time but he did.

Anyway, yes I've got a sign up at the end of the drive down by a busy highway and most everybody knows me and that I have chickens and sell eggs.

These rednecks around here are tight with their change so I sell them for $2.00 a doz. or $ 1.50 for 3 or more and its like pulling hens teeth to get that out of them. When they try to baulk on the price I ask them if they've priced chicken feed lately. It's just like everything else, high as a cat's back.

I'll find a market for them eventually, then the cheap ol' so and so's can either pay it or eat those ol' pale face, pukiefied yellow, store bought 6 mo. old eggs for .89 cents a doz. You get what you pay for, my ol' Granpappy always said.

I sold 4 dozen today, the most I have had to sell in one day.

catdaddyfro I wish I had some of yours here, I have so many customers and not near enough eggs to go around. Just had someone on Sunday ask if I had 6 dozen a week I could sell them. Had to tell them only a dozen a week right now. I also had one of my regular tell me a Chef she knows would buy all my blue eggs for the restaurant where they work.....had to turn that one down to.....

I've got 10 dozen to sell right now, posted it on my FB account, usually city family/friends buy them from us when we come their way and Dh is coming their way this Saturday.

You'd better start baking, freezing, quiching and eating some of them eggs

I have really been enjoying making Flan. This is probably the wrong place, except that we were talking about using up eggs.

You make some carmelized sugar, just melt it in a pan, put it in your custard dishes, and while it sits there, combine 3 large eggs, 1 1/2 cup milk, 1 teasp vanilla, and 1/3 cup sugar. Combine this, don't make it frothy, and put it on top of your sugar, put it in a 8 x 8 pan with 1 inch of water in it in the oven at 325.

Cook about 45 minutes or a little more.

I just had a rather extensive surgery and I am queasy and this tastes really good and uses up eggs.

Oh I use about 1/3 cup sugar to carmelize sugar.

Of course you can just make custard which is also good. Or rice pudding.

3 dozen.

Thinking about buying a Eggs For Sale Sign. I saw one on the internet but not too sure about it. I wish that I could draw something "catchy". I like the idea of having a sign in my yard. I never had one before and really didn't need one but I just want to have a sign. I saw a few catchy signs on the site.

Has a sign in the yard increased sales for anyone?
