Part of the reason I picked the Gold Comets is because of what you had said about the large size of the eggs.

I like my Welsummers and Cuckoo Marans and my Americaunas very much for their speckled and different colored eggs, but they are all laying a fairly smallish egg.

I think that what many of my customers like is the unusual colors, so I look for that, but the only large ones I have are from my lovely but not very prolific Buff Orpingtons.

I do not aim for all my eggs to be the same size, but I will be happy for some of them to be a little bigger.

I am also hatching out (hopefully, you all know how iffy hatching shipped eggs is) some pretty Heritage Rhode Island Reds.

But I am excited about the Comets, and I will let you know how they do. Of course the hatchery probably makes a difference also.

My Comets are due to come, and also five EE's, being shipped on Feb. 10.

Isn't the cheeping of little chicks one of the happiest sounds there is?

Do you go to church? Put some eggs in a pretty carton (I really like the clear plastic cartons, which I get from Eggcartons.com) and you can even make up a little newsletter, I do this about three times a year, to go with the eggs. This tells what kind of hens I have, how healthy free range eggs are, so forth, makes people feel they have a connection to your eggs.

Anyway, take a bunch of your eggs to church and give them away to people. Hopefully, then, they will start placing orders.

Or if you work, likewise.

Give away some free samples, make them look pretty.

People like to feel a connection with the animals in this automated world. Make your eggs special. Which they are.
