How many Eggs did you Sell today?

I have about 80 hens (6 meat birds who lay double yokes) but not sure exactly how many are laying. About 20 of those "hens" are actually about 5 month old pullets. I have about 13 rooters. The rests are pullets that are only 3 months old, so they haven't started laying yet. Some of the hens are molting, so they are not laying any eggs at this time. It's getting more and more difficult to keep up with all of them.

2 Dozen today for $3/Dozen and now I'm tapped out. We've been getting 17 eggs a day from our 19 Gold Comets for more than a week now so we'll have more tomorrow. I'll be glad when our 11 new GC pullets come in next month. That'll give us 30 hens then. If the new ones are like all the others we got last year they should be laying before mid-April. I have a fridge full of eggs and my people that take them all CAN'T TAKE ANY this week because of the silly reason that THEIR fridge is full of eggs. They couldn't get to church to deliver them Sunday. And to make matters worse, they have not had any power since last Saturday. I assured her that my eggs would stay just fine at room temp for quite a while.

When they can get out they are going to donate them all to a homeless shelter. My hens will be SO pleased. I have a very philanthropic bunch of hens.

So when WE can get out, we will be delivering eggs to all of our neighbors.

In the meantime, I guess I will make chocolate chip meringue cookies. Doesn't that sound good?

(Trust me, it is.)

In fact, I think I will go make them RIGHT NOW!

I am setting my little brooder up in here for all the chicks that I hope will hatch out of my precious little eggs, and all the chicks that I hope will get through the mail on Friday.

Gosh, aren't all those little smilies cute? I must be getting slightly stir crazy.
