How many Eggs did you Sell today?

Picked up another new customer today. She came out and bought 4 dozen. She was referred by one of my customers. She said the part that sold her was that my customer kept telling her how CLEAN my set up is. She came out and looked in at the chicken yard and couldn't believe how "CLEAN" it really is.

Since it was to a friend I only charged $3. Unfortunately, I think I have more friends than eggs so I'll have to hold at $3 my plan was to sell at $4 and even have an aquaintance who wants some at $4 but my peeps come first. I'm just lucky my hubby understood when I told him if he was going to eat my eggs he couldn't just eat the whites or I wouldn't have any left over eggs LOL.

My girls just started laying at the beginning of August and now I am building up an inventory, so I posted on Craigslist and also sent out a message to my FaceBook friends....no such luck. I haven't had one person interested....do you guys have any suggestions for me? I don't think my price is too high...It is about the same as other people on Craigslist, but they are further away. I am only asking $3 per dozen. I have bought my cartons and printed my labels and I am all prepared, but no luck

Around here your price would be too high if they aren't organic. The going price for backyard eggs is between 1.50 and 2.50 with most around 1.50

I have organic, non-soy, non-GMO corn, flaxseed, free range eggs. $4 or more is the price in the store for that. Also I'm lucky enough to work with some people who actually currently pay the $4 in the store price. I'm sure if I did CL I might have to compete with the 1.50.

Also remember you only need a couple customers at your desired price (unless you have alot of chickens). I'm only going to have 2-3 dozen a week and won't need that many customers for that. So if you are any of those labels that mine have make sure to let people know that aren't just eggs they are ___ eggs. Also some other have emphazised that their hens are treated well. A few people advertise Farm Fresh Eggs from Happy Healthy Hens or Pampered Hens. There is definately some people who also care how the animals are treated as well. I don't know how long you been looking for customers but unless it is a long time I'd stick to your guns and work on a few loyal customers who value your product.

Also don't forget you can bribe your neighbors or friends with a free dozen then if they want more just tell them you are selling eggs and would love to sell them a dozen!

You have a great product, you just have to market it.

(of course I've only sold one dozen so not sure I'm the one to be giving advice)

Thanks for the advice....I will lower my price a little and see how it goes!!!

Ok so I sold my 3rd dozen and looks like for now I've locked into $3/doz cause it is mostly to friendly co-workers. No I have a waiting list about 7 deep and I only produce 2-3 dozen a week.

I know I should feel lucky, and I do. Now I'm just trying to convince hubby the neighbors won't notice 4 more hens

Not only did I just make my FIRST egg sale, the woman bought four cartons AND said she would tell her sister about the eggs!

Just read up and to crazy4spurs, I put several ads up for my eggs with no luck.

Added a few pictures of the hens AND the eggs in a carton, and three beside a pencil for size comparison. After I did that I got the above customer. I'm selling for 2$/dozen though. Was at 2.50, but there are several people selling eggs around here, some organic and some not. I lowered the price and now have my first customer. Just a few suggestions for you!
