The most i've ever had was 7 under a bantam and 5 of them hatched.

8 under a LF mutt. Two were killed during incubation by another broody. As of yesterday, 4 hatched; this AM will tell the story of the other two.

Seems like I've read on here of 20 something eggs under a hen recently.

9 under one Silkie ( 6 of my BLRW-3 split lav silkie eggs-mine)
6 under another silkie ( 5 of my BLRW-1 of my Olive egger eggs)
5 under another silkie ( 2 of my BLRW-3 of my split lav silkie eggs)

All my split lav silkies went broody

so If Im not getting eggs for a long time Im going to have a good reason not to have eggs as I dont want to get that bator out again:)

we had 5 turkey eggs and two chicken eggs under a leghorn.
All 5 turkey eggs hatched.

But the chicken eggs did not:(

I have 7 under a bantam cochin right now....I put 6 under there and mysteriously another full size egg ended up under there. Today is day 21. Two have hatched so far.

Recently I had a hen sit and hatch 15 eggs. She is part silkie, part OEG LF, so not all that big, but most of her eggs were either BR, leghorn, or OEG.

I'm sure that 15 is about average around here, even the little OEGB's get at least 10.

My Black Star hen was a mother of eight chicks, but she started with about 12 eggs. We only had one rooster for 20 chickens though.
