How many eggs is everybody getting?

Between 6-8 eggs for us right now. For number of hens: 28.

Hens ages between 5-6-7yrs to youngest 1-2yrs of age.
Got a 5 month old Fibro Easter Egger that will be laying any day now, she's at POL.

I live in Northern Michigan, I only have 2 girls (they will be 3 yo in July). They went into molt at the end of September and we got our first snow before Halloween. The temps have been variable (teens to 30's) but the girls have not wanted to wander out of their enclosed run since the snow started to cover the ground (no grass) in mid November. They have not laid any eggs since November 12... and for a couple weeks prior to that their molt was really bad (the coop and enclosed run looked like someone had ripped open a feather pillow and strewn it about) and I was getting soft shelled eggs/broken eggs.

They have complete 16% layer feed plus separate calcium (egg shell /oyster shells) ad lib, and through the molt I have been giving them some extra protein treats also (yogurt/mealworms/scrambled eggs...) They look quite healthy and happy. I bring them into the house every once in a while to inspect feet and overall health, but they don't even act like they want to go up and sit in the nests... I know they are using a lot of energy trying to stay warm, and I put the brood heater on at night for them ( when it gets into the low teens) as I don't think they have gotten all their feathers back yet. A friend of mine said his 23 girls didn't lay for 2 months when the weather started to change in September.

I have 3 hens all almost 2 years old. I have been accustomed to getting 3 eggs every day, this winter has been an adjustment. I get one or two eggs per day just now. Our weather has been cold and rainy all through December. Well, not cold compared to places that get really cold but…. Daytime temps 40s or low 50s, night 30s or 40s. (All temp Fahrenheit). Daylight about 9 hours.

I have 13 hens, two of which are leghorns and I have only been getting eggs from the leghorns the last 3-4 weeks. RR, EE, Marans, have all shut down. I am selling them all if they don’t start putting out some eggs by the time the eat through the last 100lbs of feed. Leghorns are the best laying hens I have ever had, hands down.
100% agree with you on that, leghorns are amazing😁 mine sadly just passed away, she was quite old so was expected but she was a superb layer, was rarely days she didn’t lay

Wasn’t sure which section to ask this in😆

Just curious and would love to know what everybody’s average temperature is right now where you are, how many hours of light your chickens are getting, and how many eggs you are getting from your chickens 🙂

I’m asking as I’m in the UK and still getting around 4 eggs a day from 6 hens I currently have, whilst the average temp is about -1°C (30F) in the day and -4°C (24F), with only 8 hours of light a day.
Surely they’ve got to slow down or even stop soon😧
We don’t even particular eat many eggs and have loads spare, I feel as though they need a break 😂
We are in the northeast/ capitol region of New York. And lately our Temps have been all over the board. This morning reaching 60°f right now snowing and 17 heading lower overnight. It's light at around 7 am and dark by 5 pm.
We have 25 girls, 3 we know don't lay but the rest are 1-1/2 yrs. old and we only get 4-8 eggs a day right now. In the warmer weather and with more natural light we tend to have 12-18 a day.
I consider us a hobby farm and like to sell the eggs as often as I can since I charge 1.00 less then the stores, their fresh and super tasty, we have quite the demand. Too bad the girlies just can't keep up. 🤪
Maybe try selling them?
Either way have fun!!

SC16 Season's Greetings.
Thursday at 3p it was 17° Feels Like -3 and I collected 18 eggs, overnight it was -3 Feels like -14. Today 12/23 it was 22° Feels Like 9 and I collected an eighteen pack!
My birds got fresh water at 1p today, I am looking forward to 34° Saturday. It was brutal winds overnight Friday for a long time but my birds had dry and warm housing. All are okay.

Leghorn lover myself..low maintenance gals..wish they would stay in there house when it gets cold..but they love getting out..it was like 3 degrees here today..sooo cold.

6 leghorns (that will turn 3 April 2023), 2 Wyandottes, 2 Easter Eggers, 1 mutt (possible rhodebar mix), 1 rhode island mutt mix (mummy is the rhodebar mix), 3 rhode island red /white leghorn cross. I am getting 6 to 9 eggs a day. I have a red light for heat but no like white light that messes with sleep.
