How many eggs should I put under each hen?

I have two girls that are trying to hatch some wooden eggs =/ So, I want to buy some eggs for them to hatch. What is the maximum amount of eggs I should put under them? The other day, I found one sitting on eight real eggs and four wooden eggs!

I'd put a dozen under a cochin or a brahma.

Most do great with 8.

Ok. One is an EE and one a Marans I was a little surprised that the Marans wanted to hatch out some babies, I didn't know they go broody, especially when coming from a hatchery.

Standards - I usually put 10-12 under my broodies, they seem to do great with them.

Bantams - i usually put max of 8
