How many eggs to put under a Broody Dominique??

I have 15 eggs to put either under a Broody or in the incubator, how many can I safefully put under the broody?

When our Dominique hen went broody it was with 5 eggs. Unfortunately, she lost interest after a couple days, so we gave them to our Jersey Black Giant hen.

(And that is the only criticism I have of our adorable Abigail Adams. Since then she hasn't gone broody at all.)

Is this her first time to go broody? A smaller number might be better for a first time mama hen.

That's a good question...I don't know how many eggs anyone else's hens will set, but mine always knock them out of the nest until they're down to 6-8 eggs. I have RIRs and Black sex-links that brood.

Nope, she is completely off. Didn't last very long. Like 2 hours maybe.
