I have two male ducks and i'm think of getting females. Is it ok if i get two females or am i gonna need more. They are both pekins but we want different types. if i need more its fine just want to know how many is best

I'd suggest having absolutely no less than 8 females for two males and more than that is better. I currently have one pekin drake to four females and I actually wish a had a couple more. I used to have three pekin drakes and had to re home two because 3:4 ratio was causing health problems for the ladies.

Ok thanks i also read they can have 2 females per drake is that true because i really don't know.

The first year I had ducks I got two females and a male which was fine until the drake was sexually mature. Ducks are extremely aggressive when it comes to mating which is why I have more females now because the male was causing them to lad along their necks make them sore from over breeding. If you really don't want to get 8 females could you at least do 6? It's in the best interest of the ducks to have as many as you are willing so that everyone remains happy and healthy.

well if i do that i might have to make a new coop because my coop now was made for 12 birds and right now i have 6 and i was planning on more chickens too.

Oh okay. If you were to get adult females you could start with four and see how it goes and get more if your males are too aggressive for just the four. Either that or maybe make a sepperate house for the ducks?

I am getting adults and my males are almost 4 months i think but what would happen if i just get 2

If you just get two it will seem fine for a while but after a bit they will over mate the females because there won't be enough of them to divvy up the action which can cause their hips to spread apart treading of their back balding on their neck and a lot of pain and discomfort.

Ok thats fine because we might make a new coop for them anyway. I was just wondering
