How many have used the betadine/sugar treatment on wounds?

I've been reading up on treating bumblefoot. I've seen some links that swear by packing the foot with a paste of betadine/sugar. How many of you have actually tried this. Anyone try it and it didn't work very well?

I am a CNA and cared for a quadraplegic man, he would get bed sores and I would treat his sores with Betradine and sugar and it worked (on humans)!!!

When I was in nursing, we would use maalox and a heat lamp on bedsores. Wish we'd known about the betadine/sugar combo!
Would you mix it up yourself, or did it come already mixed?

Works REALLY well on horses with an abscess in the foot!!
The way I use it is to get the foot clean and prepared and then take sugar and add a tiny bit of betadine drop by drop until it is like wet sand (any more and it will all disintegrate and run off)
Pack in foot, cover with gauze, and then use vet wrap to secure
Then cover with a duct tape bootie


Never tried it on a chicken - ?? -
maybe you can adapt the above to work on a chicken foot??

Using sugar on cows, horses,-stock animals for prolapse is an old time ranching first aid. I have used it on cats with swollen third eyelid and it works. it would probably work on chicken prolapse too, I hope I never have to use it for that but, I would if needed

interesting, so are you saying it is for open wounds or swelling? and how does it work?
