I have 2 hens we are keeping just as pets.

We hatched them for a school project and have become attached. A friend did the same and has 3 males. I know I can't keep all 3 of her boys, but is 1 roo for 2 hens OK, or not enough girls? Sure wish I could somehow neuter them so they won't fight and I could keep them all. LOL! Eunic quail!

2:1 may work depending on the temperament of the birds, the size of the cage, and the availability of hiding places for your girls. Personally I do fine with 3:1, others swear by 5:1 or greater.

1 roo - 2 hens
1 roo - 3 hens
1 roo - 4 hens
2 roo to 4 - 8 hens
and so on 3 to 10/12

I agree. I routinely run 4 or 5 to 1. but depending on the birds and environment 2 to1 may work. Or it may be a disaster.... The only way to know for sure is try it.
