how many husband building or remodeling chicken coops this weekend

My husband has been working on the wiring in the new coop. My son has been building the interior walls and I have been putting the second coat of paint on the outside.

Not my hb; ME doing the work. I have been quiet about it but I have learned to use a circular saw, drill, hammer etc. I have been building my very first project. I had someone come and build a roof over 4x4 burried post. I am building coop rooms under it. It is 12x 20. so far I have one 9 foot coop. He did not get anything square. I have put things up and torn them down more than building. I will never again let someone work for me without me being there on the project to inforce the rule everything has to be square . Jeesh. I am a beginner and I knew better than to do what he did. My family thinks I have truly gone crazy. I am 64 years old this year with quite a bit of health problems but it has given me so much joy to learn these new skills. I have wrangled plywood, dropped it on myself with the bruises to prove it etc. I have made some dumb mistakes but oh, have I learned. Gloria Jean

I gave mine the weekend off, but next week he has to finish our new chicken tractor. I have chicks coming on 9/16 and I want to have it ready for when they feather out.

We're hoping to come up with a tractor we can sell locally, so i will be posting pictures for opinions on here when its done!

My DH built us the Poultry Palace, but I'm here to tell you that my Dad (75) asked if he could finish painting it! So he spent the holiday weekend down with the girls giving them a new paint job. What a guy!

Yep...my chicken-lovin' fiance just layed in the wiring for the lights and outlets for water heater/timer lamps etc this eve////while I constructed yet ANOTHER version of a roost area---saw a great idea here for 2x4 roosts with a slide out pan under to catch the poo///should help keep the mess down during our long (not too far away) winter ahead....

will the modifications and improvements EVER be done??? Sheeessh...if our house got this much work on it each weekend, we'd live in a palace!

I'm with you there sister!! My husband is not allow to touch my power tools. His father hired people to do work like this. Mine made me take wood and auto shop in high school in addition help him around the house (my brothers are much older and were out of the house by the time I was a teen)

He will help me with things over my head(he's 6ft 4) and lift heavy things. But I do the rest all on my own.

Plus he doesn't take his time and I'm afraid he will cut his fool leg off!!

PS. I'm in the process of building a Chicken Town with a group of Little Tikes playhouses, lol.

I'm still working on my Chicken Run Part Deux. I dug a few feet of trench line this weekend, but not much else.

Three day weekend to relax and clean the human coop.

Build on my chicken loving friends,

Hugh

CoyoteMagic, I hope you'll post pics of your chicken town when your done, sounds fun.

I wish we had been building a coop this weekend. It rained so much here that now I'm really feeling the rush to get their permanent coop together. We're still making do but hopefully next weekend we'll be ready to build.

Jody

We finally finished ours this last Saturday! Will get pics up tomorow! So nice to be done and just in time... first egg yesterday. It's like they wanted to test the nest boxes or something!
