Hi! Just wondering how many chickens can comfortably fit in a 16x16ft coup. We will be getting leghorns and brahmas. Definitely don't want to over crowd. They will also have a run that will be the same size or bigger than the coop itself as well as be able to free range. (They will have at least 1-2 acres to free range on just for them)

The typical recommendation is 4 sq.ft of coop space per chicken and 10 sq. ft of run space per chicken. Going off those recommendations, you could technically house 64 birds with a coop that size, provided your run was a total of 640 sq. ft. But, depending on how much you plan on free-ranging, you could go smaller on the run size.

True we just need a picture of the coop to decide

Leghorns will need about 4 sq ft of coop space per bird. The Brahmas will need about 6 sq ft per bird. If the coop will be their primary shelter, than no more than 20 of each breed.
