How many nest boxes do you have in your coop?

I have a 8 nest box cluster, chicken numbers vary from 12 to 50.

I put two small dog houses in the coop while I worked on building "proper" boxes. My girls use the two dog houses. I've never collected an egg from the three wooden boxes.

I am a newbie at this and we built 9 boxes for 10 chickens. They started laying last week and they have only used 5 of them.

5 for 15, but am planning bigger just in case. I just finished the boxes today, and hope to get the cut/framing done for it tomorrow.

I have 3 for 10 chickens. They are tiny and will not lay for many months though.

I have 2 long nesting boxes that can fit 3 in each, and I have 9 individual boxes kind of like apartments lol. But we also have 17 chickens.

I've heard 1 box to every 3 hens is a good rule of thumb, unless you want to encorage broodies then I would build additional, bigger, cage type nests for however many broodies you want to encorage.
