How many nesting boxes for 20 chickens?

we have 20 hens. or will have after we give some to family. 29 now. they are 14 weeks old.

I've read that one box for every 4 or 5 hens is sufficient.

I'm planning to have one for every 3 or 4 hens so if I get more (OK when I get more

) I'll still have enough.

I'd make 2 rows of 3 nest boxes stacked on top of each other with a 45 degree top so they can't roost on top of them and get poop all over the place.

I have 19 hens ...one Roo...maybe 12 are laying .....I have four boxes and they use only two....

I built 20 boxes for 26 hens. That is WAY to many. the seem to pick nests & every one takse turns using it . 4 or 5 would be enouhh for mine, But i just like having more.

I say 4 as well. I've got 7 girls and 2 boxes, they only use one though!

I'm in agreement, I'd have 5 boxes for 20 hens. And they'll use maybe 2.

I have ten boxes for 22 hens. (DH and pal made that executive decision...) My hens use 3 boxes and a pile of hay in the corner!

I have 7 for 28. Cleanest place in the coop right now. Stacked 3 on top of 4.
