How many of y'all have 'senior" hens still laying?

My five year old Buff Orphington lays three eggs a week and my five year old Barred Rock lays about two a week. My four year old Silver laced Wyandotte lays about two a week. My three year old girls lay 4-5 eggs a week. As you can see, it varies. My 'senior' Buff Orphington is also the Alpha chicken, as well as one of the best egg layers. You're as young as you feel!

My 3 year olds Buff Orpington and Amaracauna both lay almost daily. I thought they'd slow down this year. So far going strong!

I have a Barred Rock that is 3 or 4 years old, and she lays an egg every other day, and sometimes every day. She's a great, dependable chicken! :)

My three year old Silver Grey Dorking laid about ten little pink eggs in a row this spring, then nothing for over a month. She might be done for the year. But my four year old Ameracauna still lays a nice strong shelled blue egg every other day. Neither of them lay in the winter. And I've got six mixed breed one year old hens going full tilt right now. My black Australorp is about nine and lay one last almost shell-less egg last summer. But she was very productive as a youngster and is still an entertaining friend. She even sings the old egg song when she finds one of the other girl's nests.

I have 2 americauna hens of 3 yrs. they were laying machines until 2 months ago. Now they only lay every other day. I have 4 more 9 weeks old to replace the 2 Rhode Island reds I re homed. After they slowed on egg laying to 1 a week they got a little aggressive and I couldn't have that around my 2 yr old grand daughter.

I have 2 hatchery BR and 4 EE that are 4.5 years old, and this is their 5th laying season. Now with springtime in full gear, I am getting an average of about 4 eggs a day. However, I have noticed that as they age they have started molting earlier and are taking a much longer winter break. But I'm pleased they are laying this well. They have a home for life.
