How Many of You Eavesdrop on Your Coop???

I had to use a baby monitor to listen for predators when I was having raccoon troubles. First sounds of trouble, me and my dad were up ready to kick some raccoon behind.

I got mine used from eBay, and it was CHEAP - $12.99! It's an old Sony BabyCall, nothing fancy. I did check reviews to see how well-rated the ones were that I was looking at on eBay. I just made sure that both ends could be plugged in -- I didn't want to be going through batteries left and right.

Cool. Not expensive at all. Thanks for the info.

How far away can the two be apart? How many feet away?

Wsdareme, I checked out your BYC page. I love it and I love your nesting boxes. Great setup and it looks like it is sooooooooooo easy to clean the nesting boxes. Great idea! I'm sure your girls love the nesting boxes.

Thanks! Yes, they are SO easy to clean -- dump them out, wipe them out, throw in some fresh shavings (which the Delaware hen promptly kicks out on the floor).

The funny thing is, there are certain boxes that rarely get used (the top right 3) and a couple on the bottom that will have 4-5 eggs.

Go figure! I was thinking about putting little curtains across the front to see if the extra privacy would get them to use them equally.

I love going out at dusk and listening to them go to bed. My girls are pretty quiet all day long but it's like a wild west shoot-out when they go to bed. Stomping around on the roosting bar, squawking, boking, flapping their wings, more squawking, etc.
