How many of you keep ducks and geese together? & winter light?

So I have my ducks and geese together all day running around in my big garden/yard but at night they go to separate pens/coops. I use light in the duck area but not the goose as the ducks are laying all the time. I read here on the forums though that the light can cause premature molting

and fertility in the geese. So I am working getting less light to the geese but I was wondering (seeing as your all so wonderful and helpful and all)...

how many of you keep your geese and ducks together at night?
and how many of you use light at night?
and if you do use light how long each night?

No light here. The ducks are resting over the winter.

The ducks are penned up separately at night.

Light to extend daylight hours is not supposed to be good for the geese. I would be careful to not give them additional light at night if you are hoping for eggs and goslings.

we keep ducks and geese together, also chickens, turkeys, guineas. we don't use artificial light to extend their day... some of my ducks and chickens continue to lay, but those that don't get a winter break.

I kept all my ducks, geese and chicken together all the time. Except for my 2 of my drakes. A welsh harlequin and a black swede. They are so mean to my little runners. I leave a light on at night in the pen but they can get out of the light if they want to. I have a fenced off area inside the 1 1/2 acre pen that I put them all in at night. We leave the light on to help deter predators. They can go in the chicken house if they want to. They don't sleep under the light they sleep out in the grass.

Everyone free ranges here together and share a large coop at that is divided inside. The call ducks, mandarins and peafowl are the only ones living separate. If you walk put side with a feed bucket you are likely to accosted by 50+ critters looking for a treat.

Ours all free range together, too, during the day, but at night the adult geese are put up separately. Our two younger geese, though, stay with the ducks at night & even tend to stay grouped up with them while they're free ranging in the daytime. And we don't put a light on ours, either.

My geese are in their own pasture and ducks, turkeys, guineas, peafowl, and chickens go from pasture to pasture with no problems.. Most ducks sleep with the geese at night..

My 2 yr .old geese have their own night pen. They have taken to bullying the ducks IF food is involved (bite at their backs). But are ok with the Young flock (4-5 months old-31) and the six (runners 2 yr. old)., free ranging in yard in daytime. (one pair may go)

My young flock has 5 young geese they were raised with and they all go into a fenced carport with the other ducks. But, as they will be separated as I have 4 Shetland Ganders (need to sell at least 2 and get girls this year, lost my only girl) and one female tufted buff, she is very timid and I hope she will be my hawk deterent for the free ranging ducks.
I am learning , age and personality seem to have the determining effect.

You shouldnt keep turkeys on the same ground as chickens. After a few years, Turkeys will start to develop a disease called Black Head Disease. It will kill the Turkeys. They get it from the aged chicken poop. The worms eat and decompose the chicken poop which makes them a carrier. This will kill the Turkey if the turkey eats that worm.
