HI all,

I was wandering how many peafowl can I put on one acre of land and what breed would you suggest a beginner get? I thought about peach and/or white what do you all think? I LOVE peafowl!!

If you are just starting with peafowl, the Blues should be easier and cheaper to find with Black shoulder a close 2nd. As far as how many for your property, if letting them run free plan on them going to your neigbors and not staying home.

You can certainly get cross eyed at Brads place. What is your budget and we will help you spend it! If he had peach available I would say go for it. I think there is a long and distinguished list for those, however.

...... And no particular color/pattern is better than any other for a begginer. Pick what you like!

Just a comment on the Peach. They are a sex linked color and not fast to reproduce ... to bred them it helps to understand how to breed with sex link genes. I have a 3/4 spalding male split to peach and 2,, 3/4 spalding females of peach color and one ( maybe 2 ) 2012 hatch peach chick. I have bred these for 6 or so years and they are peach not cameo. These are for sale as a unit, I will not seperate them .. They are not cheap like swap meet chicken roosters at fall sales . If interested call me at 417 753 7383 . Also I have charcoal male and split females to sell proven and I hatched charcoal chicks this year.. George A Conner ,,, Rogersville, Mo.

Thank you soooo much AugeredIn and connerhills for the information. I am looking to buy a pair of peafowl and i will spend anywhere from 100-300$ for a pair but i don’t think that i will be able to get peafowl this year

i need to ask my neighbors if they mind that I get peafowl and I need to see if they will let me free-range them. As well as I need to build a coop for them to live. I have a neighbor up the road that has blues so when the coop is done I may get some from her but I like the white and peaches.
