How many peppers can I fit in a 4ft 10 in row?

Hi, just wondering how many peppers can I fit in a 4ft 10 in row? A row of lettuce is about 14 inches in front of where they will be. I can't decide between 3 or 4 plants!

I think you can fit 4. It depends on the kind of pepper, though. Some pepper plants get bigger than others.

What kind of bed do you have? If it's a raised bed and you can walk all the way around it, I would put 4 plants in. If you have to be able to walk between the plants, 3 might be a better idea.

I have a raised bed, and can walk around the outside. I don't need to walk in between the plants, so 4 sounds good.

I put my banana, bell, jalapeno, cayene peppers 18" apart and use tomato cages to hold them up.

Do I need stakes\cages for them?

No you don't have to have cages. I don't have to worry about branches breaking off from the bell peppers.

I cage my peppers, it's probably not needed but does provide a little extra support if fruit gets a bit heavy.
