Nice! We had originally planned for 26 chickens, but then the hen we got to go broody “accidentally” made some fertile eggs have little chicks inside of them! Of course they had to come out and grow into

Kinda embarrassed to say till someone else says way more or something.... lol

How many do you have? Don’t be embarrassed, if I had my way, we would have MANY MANY chickens!

None of my chickens are pets. 22 egg layers 1 Roo and 10 meat birds. Layers make money to pay their way plus feed my family. Meat birds do what they are supposed to do. They go freezer school next week. None are named, I don't want to be attached as it's to hard to part with a pet.

I got three pullets and three straight run in March. The straight run were all boys. One nice guy, two mean, pullet treading piggy jerks who now reside two feet down in my garden. Never buying straight run again!
I hope to add three more pullets next spring, and would really like one of my ladies to brood them for me. Hatching an egg or two would be awesome... can't really take the chance unless I have a place to rehome an unwanted roo.
As for being pets... well, yeah! All of them. Even when I have to explain to my (mostly) well behaved roo that I am the boss.

I'm just starting out, but so far I have six chicks I'm raising! I can tell though I might end up with way more in the future ^^ Once they're old enough to go outside, they'll have a coop and run, and free ranging time on 2.5 acres of land. But they are mostly just a hobby / pets for me.

I have 13 chickens. ALL of them are pets. Some more friendly then others, 12 girls, 1 boy, all 3 months old or younger, all incubated and hatched by me or bought as day olds, except for 2. This a new flock after we moved to a different state 5 years ago. I love all of them! Was going to get 2 more, but stopped myself, even though I really wanted that olive egger and that black silkie pullet...

I started out with 3 hens and a rooster. I intended to have 6 hens. I ended up getting 6 more pullets and was up to 10 altogether. Unfortunately I lost one of my original hens 2 weeks ago when we had a bad heat wave.

I have like 30. Lol they are all lovely birds with fifferent personalities. For the next few years I'm going to stop adding new pullets.

Me too. But I need to tell them they better stop going broody. I went through 5 this year. The last one is sitting on 5 eggs due around Tuesday.
