At the moment I have 21 quail eggs under a pekin bantam, is this too many?
Also what type of eggs are these, could they be Coturnix, I may be wrong as these are my first eggs, as I dont keep quail yet!

Coturnix eggs for sure, depends on preference you can stop in day 14 or 15.

21 eggs under a bantam might be to much but since you already put them I wouldn't take any... but remember as soon as they hatch take them away from her, because they are not ones to stick around there "mama" they'll run off and get hurt.

Yep, coturnix. And day 14 or 15, it doesn't really matter, they hatch whether they are being turned or not. Just wait till you have a batch that you forgot about (we all do eventually) and check them only to find a poor baby with his head or butt stuck in the turner!

If the hen can cover them all, then they'll probably be ok. But if she's having trouble keeping them under her fluffy butt and warm, you might want to move some to an incubator.

Another hen climbed onto the hen and broke 3 eggs, but now she can cover all of them no problem. I hope only for about 20 chicks. Do I really have to take the chicks away from under the hen when they hatch?
