How many really wash eggs just before use?

Personally, I think we've weakened our immune systems by washing everything with antibacterial soap. When I was a kid my mother never stored the mayo in the fridge, it was kept on the shelf just like the canned goods (I always hated the yellow glossy part of the mayo). Us kids never missed a day of school for illness. I don't even remember being sick. I think a small dose of coodies every now and then is a good thing. I have another long story to tell but I'll spare you all until another day.

lol.. i didn't read through the whole thread,A.D.D... blah.. lol.. but i thought i'd add to this cause i totally think it's true....

i will eat a cheeseburger that's been sitting on the counter wrapped for 2 hours.. mayo thousand island dress... what a lot of people would go "EEWW you're gonna get sick" over... i have never had food poisoning in my life...
i do not use antibacterial soaps at all....
i've never washed an egg... until recently i had no clue you could leave them out of the fridge though.... if i can get hubby past hte issue i'll leave mine on the counter too... i have a tiny fridge as it is... lol...

i very rarely get sick.. flu / colds.. whatever everyone else has.. i had my hubby sick, and everyone in his office was sick.. so pretty easy to catch.. and i didn't get it...

i chalk it up to a great immune system.. and that is because i don't baby it...

and just something to think about ... my mom's an RN... she says regular dish soap actually kills more bacteria than anti bacterial soap....

oohh again.. NO.. i DO NOT wash my eggs....
the thought never occured to me... lol...

This was my thought as well. We pick our cherry maters fresh off the vine & stuff our mouths full

This was our first year gardening in WY, where it is VERY sandy, and a lot of dust & sand got on our maters. As long as they weren't actually MUDDY, we didn't care.

So in relation, when you speak of washing eggs, those of you that are fastidious about washing eggs- do you wash your store bought produce as well? Or does a "quick rinse" do the job for you? Many factors, many similar situations.
