Oh, so does my buff orp rooster He's a sweetheart. He'll even climb into to my lap so I'll stroke his comb and wattles. I hope you're allowed to keep him!
So far they're all great together as a flock, but I only bought 4 chicks, and 2 of them have turned out to be roosters!!! One very expensive Williams Sonoma coop, 3 months of organic feed, and lots of time and energy later I'm wondering if i'm going to get any eggs at all.
Well, the two reds are pullets, so they'll give you eggs! You'll have to get some more hens though if you want to keep both cockerels. Otherwise they could overmate the hens and that'll cause them to lose the feathers on their back and maybe even injuries. I have two roosters and 15 hens at the moment and the roosters' favorite hens STILL have feather loss sometimes. Luckily I have some younger girls that'll go in with them soon.
Other than that, I love having my boys, especially Honey, the buff orp. It's so great to watch them interact with the hens and show them food, and they protect them so well.
If you want, you can butcher and eat one of the Roos ^^ good eating while their young, and you shouldn't have to worry about getting new hens too soon, but eventually you should.
They're very pretty, I could take one! I'm sure they'd love Alaska, eh? Lol
